The paperwork is the part patients worry about most — and it is usually the easiest. India’s e-Medical Visa is designed specifically for people coming for treatment, and the process is mostly online.

How it works

Once your hospital and treatment are confirmed, the hospital issues an official invitation letter — typically ready in 1–3 working days. You then complete the e-Medical Visa application online, upload the letter and your passport details, and receive your electronic visa by email.

Documents you’ll need

  • A passport valid for at least six months
  • A recent passport-style photo
  • The hospital’s invitation letter
  • Basic details of your diagnosis / planned treatment

Can family travel with me?

Yes. India issues a Medical Attendant Visa for up to two people accompanying the patient. We prepare their invitation letters at the same time and factor their stay into your travel plan.

How long does it take?

Most patients have their visa within a few days of the invitation letter. For urgent cases — cardiac or cancer, for example — the whole process can be fast-tracked so treatment begins within a week.

You never navigate this alone: your care manager guides you through every field of the application and tells you exactly what to upload.
